Uke Kids
Brand development and video animation series
UkeKids was designed to provide a unique solution for the current challenges that young people are facing with online music learning, through times of lockdown. The user experience design was informed by research with primary school students, teachers and parents and an understanding of the competitive market specifically in the broadcast and youtube field. This product strives to enable greater access to online musical education for kids aged 7-12. The lessons use a mix of short tutorial presentations, animated graphics, dynamic, hand drawn backdrops and scripting and high quality film production to engage this young audience. UkeKids is housed within a website that is easily accessible and promotes safe learning. This product seeks to reimagine online environments, drawing from children’s entertainment and unique software features to create a more joyful and engaging learning experience.
Uke Kids has been created with the following programs: Adobe Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, Photoshop, Character Animate, InDesign, Illustrator, Audition, ProCreate and Squarespace
On-screen animations were a key visual tool for UkeKids to build a joyous and bright aesthetic identity of UkeKids. From small moving icons such as bursting stars, squiggles, bold pieces of text and the - my animations serve to create a more engaging visual landscape for my audience and capture the true spirit of the ‘ukulele.’
As part of UkeKids brand identity I created a fun and rhythmic logo animation using Adobe AfterEffects and Character Animate. This animation is colourful and musical and bursting with colours, energy and shapes - incorporating key character ‘Mr Uke’ in a walking motion to create depth and detail to the overall product.
